7 days: 7 faves [blogstyle]

Christine from My Style Pill
: I adore the contrast of the crop top with the maxi skirt, the lace with the stripes. The wedges tie everything together perfectly.

Christina from Second Skin Style: Everything in this outfit looks fantastic, from her beachy hair to her loose stripes to her leather desert boots.

Erin from calivintage: A little Lolita, a little sixties, a lot of perfection.

Krystal from This Time Tomorrow: Clearly, I'm into maxi skirts. and really into seeing leather jackets again this fall. Love the giant green cocktail ring, too.

Friend in Fashion: The delicate white lace and tough black oxfords make a stylish pair.

Vanessa from The Haute Pursuit: I would love to wander through driftwood and rock this outfit - gold cross, brown booties and all.

Liebe Marlene: I'm peachy keen on this feminine and well-structured dress with tan platforms.

Yesterday was a day for journeying to IKEA and thrifting (a.k.a. saving money). I think my outfit matched the day appropriately.

The Silk Road [my style]

2 lovely comments
Yesterday it had cooled down to the breezy 70s, perfect for this outfit. Cory and I went to see Inception (finally) at the Avalon Theatre where artsy adults go to see movies, almost exactly like Studio on the Square in Memphis if it were independently owned and nonprofit. Its top movie since 2003 was Fahrenheit 911 so you get the idea. Anyway, Inception was definitely worth seeing, especially if you have a drunk hippie sitting to you woohooing through the whole thing.

Silk button-down: thrift, $5
Necklaces: flea market, estate sale, Old Navy
Tank: Autumn Cashmere
Jeans: Forever 21
Boots: thrift, $4
Purse: thrift, $6
Bracelets: Tibetan market

Zara Finally Launching an Online Store!!

Starting September 2, I'll be able to waste more time and money online! Zara is hitting Europe first and then spreading to the US so we'll have to wait a little bit longer (just like H&M).

To get you more excited, here are my favorite picks from Zara’s TRF Fall/Winter 2010 ad campaign, which is all about bringing the Southwest feel to the Northeast winter. Too bad they're not in color... (See all here.)

Beat the Heat

I've always found it impossible to dress well in blistering weather. Since DC was at its hottest this summer, I need all the inspiration I can get. On these ladies, I'm digging the short short lengths, loose tops, retro florals, edgier bags, and aviators for the eyes (of course).

Lauren Bacall: Inspiration from the 50's

3 lovely comments

Lauren Bacall's lace wedding dress in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) is pretty sweet. The off-the-shoulder, the ruffle, the semi-sheer sleeves and the large floral lace. I approve.
