Alex Turco Art Show / Alexander McQueen Tribute

Ahh, I had a fabulous night last night! Some of the models from THE Artist Agency (where I'm interning) were modeling some of Alexander McQueen's last pieces at an Alex Turco art show at the beautiful W Hotel. Here's a picture I snapped of the lobby:

Unfortunately I had class until 8 so I wasn't able to get there until 8:45, just in time to see the last outfits. However, Heather (THE's PR director) took me into the changing room to show me what was there. I got to see McQueen's trademark skulls on rings, bracelets, and pumps; moth patterns on luxurious, long dresses; intricately patterned lace tights; and structured wing-like tops. Fantastic!! Also, Alex Turco's fashion paintings had everything I love in art: lots of texture, visible brushwork and drips, tastefully done metallic paint, and of course, Marilyn Monroe. And last but not least, the people there were so much fun and, as to be expected, incredibly stylish. By the time I got there, it had cleared out some, but the best dressed had stayed. So I decided to give a go to my first time doing "street style." Take a look:

Aureta Thomollari, the most fashionable blogger I've seen, wearing an Yves Saint Laurent dress, Victor Costa Vest, Gucci python shoes, and 1920s jewelry. Check out her blog, it's incredible and inspiring! Behind her is one of Alex's paintings (my favorite one).

Ogo Offodile, the extremely talented stylist behind Poodle Pusher.

Quincy Jones, saucy blogger, and Ky'Leigh T. Wilson, abstract artist.
What Quincy is wearing: shorts and cardigan by Rugby, shoes by Donald Pligner, belt and accessories by Hermes, Vetiver by Creed (JFK's favorite scent and Quincy's signature).

From left to right:
Ashley Mason-Greene
Paul Wharton, a style expert who has worked for Elle, MTV, VH1, etc. etc. and currently blogs for The CW's TrenDC.
Erika Paola Gutierrez, Junior Account Exec for Fingerprint Communications, in Diane von Furstenberg, and whose boots were to die for.
Alex Turco, the artist himself, looking fantastic in RING jeans, a Tom Ford jacket, Dolce & Gabbana shoes, and a Dsquared2 shirt.

Scott Burkhard, my wonderful friend who went with me, wearing J. Crew jeans and dress shirt, Johnston Murphy shoes, H&M blazer and Express tie.

And finally, me, wearing my Ermenegildo Zegna glasses, Urban Outfitters feather hair clip, H&M jacket, Cindy Lee dress, and Deena & Ozzy heels.

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of my night!!
